The Last Communication

This site is built and maintained by a huge Improvised music FAN living in Seattle.  I have tried to relay the same message from the previous website for people who are looking for the information.  I will try and get all of the artists and information back up and live so everyone can enjoy this great cause and I want people to be able to find the set lists and program from the previous festivals.  You can find the past festival information here.

This is a fan run site, so the information is posted as we could find it.  We are try to collect accurate and valuable information.  If you can not find something, or if you are the artist and you feel you are misrepresented please send us a note at info (at) SeattleImprovisedMusic.us.  Thank you and please enjoy the site, we will be adding additional information and goodies and time goes by.

Below is the most recent home page of information from Seattle Improvised Music:

MATT INGALLS . CLARINET . OAKLAND
Reviled for his “shapeless sonic tinkering” by the Los Angeles Times, Oakland musician Matt Ingalls is a composer, clarinetist, concert producer, and computer music programmer. Often incorporating elements of improvisation, his music is heavily influenced by his long involvement in computer music. His composerly solo improvisations explore extended clarinet techniques that interact with the acoustic space, often as combination tones. Matt is the founder and co-director of sfSound, a new music series, ensemble, and internet radio station devoted to new ideas and traditions of experimental music, performance art, live electronic music, Bay Area composition, and the various facets of contemporary improvisation.

BONNIE JONES & ANDREA NEUMANN (PERFORMING FEB 7 & 8 AT SIMF)
Bonnie Jones and Andrea Neumann’s improvised music is a rich contradiction of textures and timbres with each artist committed to both defining and expanding the definitions of their music through long-term collaboration. The duo have been performing together since 2007.

Andrea typically performs on a custom-made Bernd Bittmann piano with no-input mixer feedback but for this duo tour she will be performing on a modified autoharp. Bonnie plays field recordings/samples and the circuit boards of digital delay pedals. The sounds produced by these instruments are often jarring and abstract but at turns equally melodic and complex. It is this sonic tension and contrast that the duo uses to create unusual musical dialogues and narratives in their work.

Bonnie and Andrea have presented their work in the US, Mexico, and Europe, most recently at the 2nd Festival International Cerro de Arena in 2012 held at UNAM, Tlatelolco, Centro Cultural Univerisitario in Mexico City, MX. The duo released their album green just as I could see on Erstwhile Records in 2012.
